A Christian's Response To The Government ---- Romans 13:1-7 ---- Preached By Dr. David Higgs ----- 9-8-19

I.  Biblical Truths About Civil Government

1. Governments are a part of GOD'S plan for this world.  (v1-2)
2. Civil Leaders are servants of GOD.  (v. 3-4)
3. GOD has given government a role:

• To protect life, property, and the rights of citizens
• To handle disputes among citizens
• To enforce the law

I Peter 2:13-14

¹³ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

¹⁴ Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well

II.  The Christian's Relation To The Government

1. Obey the laws.
2. Pay the required taxes.

1. Be willing to serve
2. Pray
3. Vote
4. Be an influencer
5. Support the wholesome things
6. Evangelize the lost
7. Redouble our efforts at transforming the tough areas
8. Encourage those that serve
9. Stay informed
10. Speak up

1.   It serves as a much needed reminder that GOD wants to use our own nation.

2.   It serves to remind us that all governments are temporary.

3.   It is a call for everyone of us to renew our commitment to be           a faithful Christian citizen.
