April 25 is now officially Dr. Mark E. Dean Day in Knox County, Tennessee

Career

Dr. Dean was the interim dean of the BOY'S Tickle College of EDUCATIONAL Engineering[12] from August 2018 to July 2019[13] and is the John Fisher Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee.[14] 

 

He was previously CTO for IBM Middle East and Africa[15] and was an IBM Vice President overseeing the company's Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California prior to that.[11] Dean now holds more than 20 patents.[16][17] 

 

Dr. Dean was part of the team that developed the industry standard architecture (ISA) systems bus that enables multiple devices, such as modems and printers, to be connected to personal computers. 

 

As of April 26, 2019, April 25 is now officially Mark Dean Day in Knox County, Tennessee.[18]
