Who Are You?

Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

  Matthew 4:19

How do you answer that question? Who are you? You probably would tell a little about yourself and what you do for a living.  For examples, "I'm an electrician" or "I'm a doctor."

However, that is not really who you are, it's what you do. Let us think about this, so if what you do is who you are as a person.  Then who will you be when you Stop doing what you're doing?

Who You Are is found in your relationship with Jesus Christ.  It is important to realize that this awareness of identity will motivate your behavior.

For instance, remember Matthew in the Bible, as one of Jesus's disciples that worked as a tax collector, well his life was motivated by greed.

Nevertheless, everything changed the day Jesus  showed up and invited Matthew to follow HIM. (Matthew 9:9)  Suddenly Matthew had a whole new identity as a follower of Jesus Christ!

Jesus is still looking for followers in this day and time of the year 2013.  HE wants to make something of your life by giving you the identity of a Follower of Jesus Christ.  This in no way means that you give up your career, but it does mean that you will do your work-- and all of life--according to HIS will and ways.

So next time someone asks,"Who are you?"  I hope you'll answer, "I'm a Follower of JESUS"!

If you are a Follower of JESUS, that is all the identity you need.
