Jon P. Starling, an alumni of HISD, currently serves as Head Choir Director for HISD. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. L.B. Starling Jr. Starling began his musical training at Reese Shiloh C.M.E. Church, where he was raised.
Since then, Jon has played in numerous churches and venues for a variety of events. Jon states that, "The greatest moments between myself and the music happen when I am alone with a piano".
Outside of school, Jon owns and operates a private piano and voice studio, where he currently teaches ten piano students, and one voice student. He is also a member of the gospel singing group, "The Friendly Gospel Singers."
Jon is quoted saying, " I believe the music ministry should be just what GOD would have it to be. Nothing more, nothing less. As long as we reach the hearts and minds of people with the Gospel and good will, GOD will do the rest."
