Perhaps, the most dramatic, story of a blind person in the Bible is that of Bartimaeus. As this blind beggar sits by the side of the road, his hope is nearly gone.
One day as the townsfolk chatter amid their typical routines, Bartimaeus hears talk that JESUS is coming to town. The miracle-working rabbi from Galilee is approaching the village. He has heard of the amazing feats this carpenter-turned teacher has performed. In his lonely heart he dares to wonder if JESUS might have power to heal him.
No doubt you know the rest of the story. As JESUS draws close, Bartimaeus cries out, "JESUS, Son of David, have mercy on me!" (Mark 10:47). Even though the crowd tries to silence the beggar, he cries out all the more. Blind Bartimaeus was so needy, he had nothing to lose. He longed to be drawn close to the the LORD with the cords of love. JESUS did not disappoint him.
What disables your FAITH today? Call out to this same JESUS and let HIM draw you to HIMSELF.
Psalm 142:5 King James Version (KJV)
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.Prayer
Take your cue from Bartimaeus. Sit cross-legged on the floor and close your eyes. Admit your need to the LORD and reach out your arms. Call out to HIM by name.
